Good Morning

I went to sleep to rain last night and woke up to a good eight or so inches of snow this morning. So much for my fourth tattoo removal appointment in Rochester. I barely made it to the office and back home tonight. Isn't Upstate just charming? Snow in April. That's cute as buttons.

Part of my rental agreement includes snow removal, so I was surprised when my driveway wasn't cleared before leaving for work. I was even more surprised when I got home and it still hadn't been touched. Because the plows came to clear the streets, the snow was piled high enough that I couldn't even drive over it (despite having superpowers and a CR-V), so I called my landlord to ask WHAT'S UP. Long story short, I ended up shoveling it myself, even though I just don't think shoveling is women's work.

I wish I had a dollar today for every native NY'er who told me the story about the year that it snowed on Mother's Day.

  1. Now, this is just my third NYC winter (Vernal Equinox my ass...it's still winter) and I had many Midwest winters as a kid but this seems like the longest one ever. Mild or not, the way it didn't start until late January and that it's lingered...I truly hope I don't blink and the sticky humid days are upon us. Though the reward of a chilly subway car after sweltering on the platform for ten minutes is nice.

  3. We don't get much snow in Sherwood, Oregon...so I think your pic is beautiful! However...I wouldn't want to have to drive into work...I WOULD WANT A SNOW DAY!!!!! Which would be complete with wet clothes from sledding, snow ball fights and making a snowman. Then we'd come inside and have hot cocoa and watch a movie and maybe even bake some cookies...can I come over?!

  6. Winter is so much uglier in Spring...I mean, seriously, it's,you know, OK when it is supposed to happen but when you wake up with your car having to be scraped off and it's April...you get bitter...and not bitter from the cold...from winter. WINTER!!!!!

  8. If you have not figured it out yet, you are not supposed to have your tattoo removed. Look at the signs.

    Matt!
