Grouchy

I hurt my back on Sunday and have been flat out in bed and on the couch ever since. It hurts to: sit, bend, reach, stretch, walk, turn over, and lay on my back. I've always had a bad back, and this has happened twice before, both years ago, but it's usually resolved itself after just a couple of days in bed on muscle relaxers. Today will be day number 5 and I'm so frustrated. I told my wonderful sister*, a nursing student who has been attending to my every need, that it's like the movie Misery, but I'm torturing myself. (In related news, my sister has decided that home healthcare is not an area she's interested in career-wise.) I'm certain that stress brought on this injury, which makes me mad that I'm not handling my stress correctly, and I've missed a work trip to Pitts and I'm going to miss my fun weekend in Providence. Poo. Could I sound any more pathetic? Ok. Carry on.

Seriously, if you don't have a sister, you need to get one.

  1. That's awful! :(

At least you don't have someone wanting to chop off your legs to keep you bound to the house, right? That's gotta be an upswing to this crappy scenario.

    Feel better soon!

  2. Damn.. I was just going to say look out for her carrying an axe... Perhaps you shouldn't let her read your blog, either, in case she imprisons you to get you to post every day....

Sorry to hear that you're in pain. May the power of Mika come to your aid.

  3. Few things are worse than back pain--believe me, I know! I highly recommend sisters, too (I have three!) and one of them is a doctor who specializes in just these kinds of injuries, so I'm covered. Hope you're back to your old self soon. Feel better!

  4. "Hope you're back to your old self soon." Pun intended? Just think of James Caan like I am and I guarentee that you will feel stress free in no time. It might even put a smile on your face too. See :D
