I'm Still Here

*I had an eye doctor appointment today and my eyes are just getting back to normal after being dilated. (After I got home my Sister told me they have reversing drops to bring your eyes immediately back to normal. It's a secret. Drat!) I don't know what it is about, but the older I get, the less I can handle someone poking me in the eye and blowing air on my face and getting all up close and holding open my eyelids with their big fingers. I really hate going to the eye doctor. It's up there with a trip to the dentist for me. My eyes are terrible, so I'm going back in a month so he can have another looksie. Check back for more complaining in 4 weeks.

*Last week I tried to iron my shirt after I put it on and got a pretty good-sized burn on my arm. Oh, tell me you've never tried it.

*I didn't buy the house. Didn't. I came *this* close, and it's cute as hell, so cute you wouldn't believe it, but it wasn't quite the right set of circumstances for me. I wish it would have happened, but it's best that it didn't. I'm going to whip the Slumlords into shape and just be glad that I get to stay put in my current rental for another year. I like it here, too.

*I have big news. Big! For later.

*I'm finally into a great book. One for My Baby is in my top ten all time books, and thank heavens Tony Parsons came out with another great one. I'm 3/4 of the way through My Favourite Wife. Amazon.co.uk, people. I don't think he's for everyone, but his stories are about expats in Asia. Hello?

*Next week I'm in a class for work in Boston. I've never been, and I hear it's a great city, so I'm going a few days early to check it out. I hope I enjoy it. It's hard to be away from home for work travel, (traveling for work is only sexy until you have to do it often), so I hope I don't miss my bed, cat, flowers on my deck too much. I also hope the hotel has a great tub to soak my feeties in - I hear there's a lot of walking to be done in Boston.

*A senior exec sent these to me after I did well on a big project at work. Receiving them made me feel great.

*Yesterday was Diversity Day at my civic group monthly meeting. It was awesome. Probably the most touching thing I heard was a documentary segment on poverty and social class called, "People Like Us." In 100 years I could never tell you how humbling it was to watch. Awesome. I took pages and pages of notes from the day and can't wait to review them and let the lessons sink in deeper.

  2. Lot's of steam. That's what I do to avoid burning the laundry. Although, I once put a nice, big burn right in the center of the back of one of my favorite shirts. Grrrr.

  3. I need to go to the eye doctor, too. Really, it doesn't bother me at all, though.

No, I actually have NOT ironed my clothes as I wore them. But I did think about it.

Looking forward to The Big News and pics of Boston!
