Working for the Man Every Night and Day

This is a good idea. For some reason I love buying and sending postcards anyway, so count me in.

Three more days of work until my two-week vacation. It's so stressful to prepare to be away for such a long time, but as it gets closer and closer there is a certain "who gives a shit?" type of zen that comes over me. I'm disappointed this year to not be taking some big solo vacation like I've done every year for the past nine years. Reading my entry from last year makes me ill with jealousy. I'm jealous of myself! But times are tough and I need to save my pennies for another day. Or just to pay my heating bill this winter.

I am trying to plan a few short excursions a little closer to home for my time off. I'm headed to DC on Saturday to catch Miss Tina Turner with a friend. After that I'm thinking maybe a couple of days in Montreal for the Eric Hutchinson show (I love Eric here) if the weather stays mellow. I was also wondering if I could swing a couple of days in NYC, and I'm still checking last-minute deals on Travel Zoo and such, hoping for an offer I can't refuse. Regardless (can't you just not stand folks who say "irreguardless"?! Fingernails on a chalkboard), I'll be sleeping in, reading for pleasure, and generally operating on my own schedule soon.
