Okinawa

I love Japanese pottery and try not to miss a chance to find something unique to assist in remembering my travels. I picked up a vase from this shop in Okinawa a few weeks back. It's part of a tiny pottery village about half way up island. Everytime I go here I let them rip me off, preferring not to barter because I can only imagine how much work goes into each piece, and I feel better giving them what they're asking. It's funny because usually the clerk will chase after me when I leave the store and give me a few extra pieces as a "special gift-o". I think she feels guilty for pulling one over on the gaijin. (Now put me in the middle of Itaewon in Seoul and I can barter forever, but the stuff I'm after there is crap!)
