I hate to think that my emotional equilibrium hinges on one hour, but the change to daylight saving time really f-ed me up. I felt absolutely groggy and grouchy all morning. I don't usually take lunches at work, but today I left and headed to church* and spent over an hour browsing, running my fingers along the inviting covers, and getting lost in the possibilities. I ended up with a stack of new books (below) and had time left over to sit down at the cafe and start one. I helped myself to something wicked called Chocolate Chocolate Blackout Cake, and sat there contemplating life and making yummy noises. I also contemplated what the hell the other twenty or so people were doing in the cafe. Do these people have jobs? Who knew that so much happens in the world at 11:00 on a Monday.
The indulgence: Then We Came to the End by Joshua Ferris, The Motorcycle Diaries by Che Guevara, Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, and Beautiful Boy by David Sheff.
